School Schedule

Education in my home country and in America is very different.
Here, you actually get your own individual schedule, and in every class you sit with completely different people.
The cool part is that you create your own schedule, and you can even change it if something doesn’t work out.
I already had to change mine three times for different reasons.
So here’s what my schedule looks like now:
1. Algebra – this class covers what we normally do in 8th and 9th grade back home. There was no space left in the next level, so I’ll just be repeating everything here. And yes – they use calculators, and they can even build graphs with them!
2. Economics – during the first week we mostly did tests and just talked. Now we’re playing the stock market game. A lot of students are super into it, but I’m not really feeling it yet.
3. Theater – this is one of my favorites right now! We act out different scenes: the first one was from our own script, and now we’re preparing a 5–10 minute play from a real script. The teacher praises me a lot, and honestly, that feels amazing.
4. MP² (MP squared) – I don’t really get the point of this class. We just sit at computers, and we’re allowed to do homework. But usually, I just chat with friends.
After that comes lunch. There are three kinds: A, B, and C – at different times so the cafeteria doesn’t get too crowded. I have A-lunch, so I go right after my 4th class.
5. Music Theory / Songwriting – here we’re learning the basics of music, and soon we’ll start writing our own songs. I really like the teacher, Mr. Palmer. He’s super kind and calm, and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does.
6. AP Psychology – AP means advanced level. I just decided to try psychology, and from the very first class, I realized I loved it. I even did well on the first test, even though I’ve never studied psychology before.
7. English – right now we’re learning about the Pilgrims and literature from that time. Sometimes we also spend 10–15 minutes reading a book of our choice, which we’ll present to the class in November.
Everything here is so different from my school back home, but I’m really enjoying it!
