📝 My school is huge! Some classes are in nearby buildings, so you actually have to step outside and take a short walk to get there.
📝 Lunch options? Burgers, pizza, sandwiches, chocolate milk, and so much more. You can bring your own food or even walk/drive to a café.
📝 Classes are about an hour long.
📝 Americans almost never use pens. Seriously—everything’s written in simple pencils.
📝 My school day starts at 8:00 and ends at 3:15 PM.
📝 Teachers give you time to start your homework during class. I usually take everything home, so I end up with a lot of worksheets 😅
📝 You create your own schedule and choose the level of your classes.
📝 If you want to switch a class or move to another level, you need signatures from your parents, your current teacher, and the teacher of the class you want to join.
📝 A school counselor is someone you can talk to about literally anything. They help you with questions, your schedule, and more.
📝 Every student gets a laptop. We use Google Classroom, and teachers post everything there. Most assignments have to be uploaded online.
📝 My schedule alternates—one set of classes on even days, another on odd days. Not sure if all schools do this.
📝 I have 5 classes every day.
Now it’s your turn—imagine what your American high school schedule would look like, and maybe one day you’ll be the one sharing your exchange student experience!
