🎇 Tonight is our prom! And no, it doesn’t mean we’re done with school yet—we still have two more weeks of classes after this.
🎇 Prom is kind of like a “gift” for the senior class from the juniors. Most students from 11th and 12th grade go, plus dates (they can be younger, older, or even from other schools).
🎇 Everyone goes with a date because of the Grand March: parents and guests sit in the audience while couples walk across the floor on decorated paths, stopping at certain spots to be photographed.
🎇 People started looking for dates way back in January. I had no idea who to go with. So, my friend Gabi and I decided to go together.
🎇 Even though we’re just going as friends, Gabi still made me a poster: “I’ve been RUSSIAN to find a date… PROM?” The joke is that instead of “rushing,” she wrote “Russian” 😂😂 Love it ❤️
🎇 These invitations are called promposals (like a marriage proposal, but for prom). They were everywhere!
🎇 No two were the same—most involved posters, food (!), stuffed animals, and all kinds of sweet ideas.
🎇 I’d seen this in movies and shows but thought nobody actually did it in real life. Turns out it’s a huge thing now, almost like a competition to see who comes up with the cutest idea.
🎇 Fingers crossed for an amazing night 👍🏼 I’ll probably make another post about the prom itself 🤗 maybe even a video 😊
Try imagining yourself at prom night too — and maybe one day you’ll experience it for real as an exchange student!
