Don’t Be Afraid — Say Hi!

Adjusting
During this time, I’ve met and talked to so many different people with all kinds of personalities, opinions, and preferences. They come from a totally different culture and mentality than what I was used to.
When you live in the same community with someone, you naturally start noticing their behavior and habits. Some things don’t surprise you, some seem a bit strange, and some completely amaze you.
And little by little (sometimes even on purpose), you start picking up their way of living and become a part of this world.
That’s when I realized once again…
Don’t be shy
  • Talk: communication is the key to any connection
  • Don’t be afraid to ask: if you need something, just say it
  • Show yourself: people deserve to see how cool you are
  • Don’t fear “public opinion”: it doesn’t exist
Nobody cares how you dress — wear what you like and what makes you feel good
  • Don’t be scared to fail — be scared not to try
Nobody gets it perfect the first time (or the second)
  • You’re awesome just the way you are — individuality is power!
Being part of something is amazing
It feels so good to be on a sports team. Even if you don’t play, you still travel with them, hang out, cheer for them. And if you do play — you get unforgettable emotions. But the best part? Team spirit.
Smile !!!
It doesn’t matter if you’re tired, had a rough day, or you’re running 3 miles and feel like you can’t anymore. You should always wave at a passing car, say hi to people walking by, wink at your friend — and smile! And guess what? They’ll smile back. It’s not fake, it’s not forced — you actually start feeling better about the people around you.
Don’t be afraid to meet new people
Stay positive and have a great day every day!!!
Enjoy every moment of your life. Find little things that inspire you. If you decide to be happy — you really will be!

Now it’s your turn! Try to imagine yourself in this kind of experience and think: what would you share if you were an exchange student?
