🍔 “Americans only eat fast food” — that’s a stereotype and honestly a myth👌🏼 The thing is, when you go out to eat, fast food is waaay more affordable💰. There are a million different chains (even Mexican ones🌮 — and honestly, pretty tasty). Prices in regular restaurants are much higher than back home, while fast-food spots cost almost the same🙃.
In some restaurants they serve “fast-food style” dishes but actually cook them properly, instead of just heating up something that tastes like cardboard📦 (yep, not a fan of fast food here). But when it’s made well, it’s actually a part of their food culture🤷🏼♀️.
🍕 Regular restaurants? Most of them are national chains or brands too. You can find the same spots in every corner of the US🇺🇸. It’s so funny to watch a show where they talk about some place and be like, “oh yeah, I was literally there yesterday” 😊.
🥘 American portions: HUUUUGE 👻 (this emoji ghost has the widest arms possible). Like, three-times-me huge… or three meals in one🤭.
Here’s how a “normal” dinner usually goes: The waiter asks for drinks right away, and before you even decide what to order, they’re already on the table🍻. Some places bring bread🥖 or chips (if it’s Mexican) while you’re waiting. Then you order… sometimes they add side salads 🥦 before your meal… and then BOOM, the giant plates of food arrive. ❗️But by that point you’re already full❗️
(For real, I always order a half-portion if it’s an option, but even those are massive.) In the end, they hand you take-out containers and you just bring half your dinner home🤦🏼♀️.
🍟 Cuisines: The most common ones are Italian🍝, Mexican🌮, American🍔, and Chinese🥠, all done in an “Americanized” way. And fries? You’ll find them everywhere, often automatically included🍟.
P.S. I seriously miss Russian food…
