America is home to two giant food industries — fast food and healthy food.
The first one was born here ages ago and even became part of the stereotype. In America, people are “supposed” to weigh a ton each and wash it down with Coke. Well, let me tell you: after almost 8 months of living in the States, I have NEVER once been to McDonald’s, Burger King, or any of those places.

I’ve seen Coke around, but haven’t tried it — they say it’s not that great anyway. Sure, fast food is fast — when you’re on the highway starving, it’s a lifesaver. But in everyday life? Not really. Back home, McDonald’s is the spot where everyone hangs out, but here? You only go if you’ve got like a dollar in your pocket. It’s super cheap.
Now, if you’re into avocado toast and kombucha, and words like detox and antioxidant make sense to you, then welcome to #healthylife. America has even more places for that crowd. But… you might have to save up for those fancy smoothie bowls, so sometimes you’re basically “losing weight while saving money.”

If your idea of shopping heaven is #WholeFoods, America is calling your name. You won’t believe the amount of salads and fresh juices here.
And traditions? I’ve already tried the famous #smores — just cookies, chocolate, and marshmallows, no cooking skills required. And yes, the classic American breakfasts with pancakes are real, too.

Delicious.
Totally recommend.
Fun fact: I keep trying to convince people that words like kefir and pirogi are Slavic originals. Nobody believes me. But they eat them anyway.
Meanwhile, I quietly miss buckwheat and borscht.
Any questions?🤪
