First Weeks in the USA

Host Family
First Weeks in the USA
First impressions.
I’ve been living in California, USA, with a regular American family for about a week and a half now. I think it’s time to share some first impressions)))
I live with a guy from Germany, his name is Paul
Usually in Europe we feel how different our cultures are, but here we actually feel like brothers compared to America!!!
I got really lucky with my host family. They’re super fun, without any boring rules. They’re trying to show us as much as possible—and that’s just awesome!
Everything here is HUGE—from TVs to portions at 🍟fast food🍔 places.
The whole country kind of lives in abundance. People here have so many things that aren’t really necessary for life. It’s not bad—it’s just normal for them.
I often heard people say that “America has no real nation.” That’s so not true!!! They raise their people to love their country so much that most of them don’t even want to leave it. At most, they just travel around the states.
In these one and a half weeks I only met 4 people who have ever traveled further than Mexico or Canada. It really feels like there are two worlds: the USA and Everyone Else.
Also, there aren’t as many overweight people as the stereotypes say. There are more than in Europe, but not that many.
You know, I really miss my favorite friends ❤️.
P.S. The first photo isn’t my host dad—it’s my host grandpa.
