My Typical Day in America

High School Host Family
The first thing I do is wake up at 6:50.
  • I do my makeup, get dressed, and pack my lunchbox and backpack.
  • My host mom gives me a ride to school on her way to work, so I usually arrive 10–15 minutes before classes start 🌟
I leave all my stuff in my locker and only take what I really need: a folder for each class, a notebook, a pencil case, a book, and sometimes my psychology textbook (but honestly, not that often).
  • Classes start at 7:55.
  • At 11:19 I have lunch, which lasts until 11:49. That’s when I eat, sometimes finish homework, and chat with friends.
School ends at 2:55. I rush to my locker, grab my backpack, and then it’s either tennis practice 🎾 or theater rehearsal 🎭 (depends on where I’m needed more 🤷🏼‍♀️). Everything usually wraps up around 5 p.m.
After that, either my friends or my host parents drive me home.
Dinner is around 6:30–7:00, and after that I love sitting in the living room with my host parents, talking about our day, our plans, and playing with the dogs 🐶.
Then it’s homework time. I don’t get too much, and I often manage to finish most of it at school, but sometimes there are projects or tests I have to prepare for.
In the evening I pack my bag and tennis gear, take a shower, and head to bed. I try to go to sleep before midnight, but sometimes it’s later 🤷🏼‍♀️
