How I Took the TOEFL
🤓✍🏻 You can take this exam almost every Friday and Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. That’s why I arrived at the test center about half an hour before it started. Honestly, I wasn’t nervous at all about how well I’d do, because for university admission I only needed 70 points out of 120. Of course, I studied hard, but I didn’t stress about it.
🤓✍🏻 You’re only allowed to bring your passport to the test. If you have any other belongings with you, you need to leave them in a locker with a key. But keep in mind that nobody is responsible for your stuff, so I didn’t bring anything valuable. You also have to take off all rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. — jewelry is not allowed inside either.
🤓✍🏻 After leaving your things, you go through registration. They check your data and take your picture. Then they scan you with a metal detector to make sure you’re not carrying a phone or other devices. Only after that are you allowed into the exam room.
🤓✍🏻 The test lasts about 4 hours. It sounds like a lot, but during the test the time just flies by.
🤓✍🏻 For me, the hardest part was the reading section. That’s where I lost the most points. I’m just not good at reading scientific texts… I’ll make separate posts later about each TOEFL section with details.
🤓✍🏻 After the test, I was so happy that this stage of my life was finally over and I wouldn’t need to take it again anytime soon.
🤓✍🏻 I think because I wasn’t nervous, my result turned out better than I expected
